Title: The Legendre family  

Abstract: I will discuss some of the algebraic, analytic and arithmetic properties of the Legendre family of elliptic curves. While you can write down its equation in one short line, this family beautifully illustrates multiple abstract concepts. In particular, I plan to arrive at an application to Galois representations.
